The Poon Hill trek follows well-maintained trails along a circuit in the lower Annapurna Range. The highlight of this trekking destination is the ascent to Poon Hill’s viewpoint at sunrise and taking in the expansive views of the renowned Annapurna regions Himalayan range.

Best Time To Trek Poon Hill:
The best time to hike is during Spring (April to May) and Autumn (September to November),
although May is often considered as the best month as the rhododendrons are in full bloom.

Tour Itinerary

  • Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal!
    KATHMANDU
    Upon arrival at the airport, your representative will greet you and take you to your hotel. Enjoy a special sunset rooftop dinner overlooking Nepal’s largest stupa and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Boudhanath Stupa. The area was once a central trade route that now protects Tibetan Buddhist culture and traditions. Explore the area, and walk around the stupa to get good luck.

  • Today embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of Nepal’s Pashupatinath Temple and Patan Durbar Square, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Hindu temple Pashupatinath is devoted to Lord Shiva’s avatar Pashupati. It was built around 400 BC and is Kathmandu’s oldest temple.

    The Patan Durbar Square is one of Kathmandu’s three Durbar Squares (old kingdom palaces). The Patan Durbar Square is a Newar architectural masterpiece, surrounded by numerous temples and idols statues with 136 “bahals” (courtyards) and 55 temples

  • After breakfast, take a short morning flight to Pokhara, the gateway city to the Annapurna Himalayan region.

    Upon arrival, get picked up and take the drive to the small village of Ulleri.

  • After a hearty breakfast, begin hiking the trail to Ghorepani. The way ascends gradually through rhododendron forests (Nepal’s national flower) with the Himalayan range’s snowy peaks spread across the horizon. Spend the night at Ghorepani, a picturesque mountain village perched above a ridge.

    Trek Duration: : 5 Hours
    Altitude: 2,860m

  • Wake up at 4am and hike up to Poon Hill to experience a spectacular panoramic golden sunrise over the Himalayas. Return to Ghorepani for a hearty breakfast before hiking through rhododendron and oak forests on a pleasant forest trail. Have a refreshing snack by the stream, before continuing uphill to Tadapani.

    Trek Duration: 5 Hours
    Altitude: 2,610m

  • Continue trekking downhill through the forest trail to Ghandrunk, a well-known Gurung village. Rest before exploring the local museum and learning about the Gurung Gorkas’ history. Feast on the local Thakali Khana set which consists of 11 kinds of small, fresh and organic dishes.

    Altitude: 1,940m

  • A short and easy downhill hike to the natural hot springs of Jhinu Danda. Spend the morning rejuvenating and soothe your muscles and body, before continuing downhill to have lunch at local village, famous for it’s street food (possible to be invited into the kitchen to have a local cooking lesson). After lunch, drive back to Pokhara.

    Trek Duration: 5 Hours

  • After breakfast, catch the morning flight back to Kathmandu. Visit Pashupatinath temple, and have dinner before retiring.

  • Transfer to the airport according to your international flight departure time.
