luxury holiday travels

An immersive journey through the dense jungle of Bardia National Park. Bardiya National Park covers 986 km2, making it the largest and most pristine protected area in Nepal. The park’s forest, grassland, and river eco-systems provide habitat for over 50 different mammal species (out of which 10 are considered endangered) and over 400 bird species. Bardiya National Park has one of the highest densities of tiger population, with 87 counted Bengal tigers roaming the park.

Venture along jungle trails with an experienced park ranger on a thrilling safari to spot endemic and threatened wildlife roaming free. Canoe down the meandering Karnali River (the largest tributary of the river Ganga by volume) to spot the Gangas dolphin. Encounter wildlife in the intimacy of private groups, as we deliver authentic experiences that take you beyond the usual tourist destinations and learn from our naturalists who have expertise in the culture, flora, and wildlife, ensuring you a fully immersive experience.

Best Time To Visit Bardia: From mid-September to mid-December and from mid-February to mid-June, when the weather is dry, are the ideal times to visit Bardiya National Park. October and November are also regarded as favorable months, as you will be able to experience the Dasain and Tihar festivals in Nepal.

Tour Itinerary

  • Arrive in Kathmandu to be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a special welcome sunset rooftop dinner with a view of Nepal’s tallest stupa, Boudhanath Stupa.

  • Today embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of Nepal’s Pashupatinath Temple and Patan Durbar Square, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Hindu temple Pashupatinath is devoted to Lord Shiva’s avatar Pashupati. It was built around 400 BC and is Kathmandu’s oldest temple.

The Patan Durbar Square is one of Kathmandu’s three Durbar Squares (old kingdom palaces). The Patan Durbar Square is a Newar architectural masterpiece, surrounded by numerous temples and idols statues with 136 “bahals” (courtyards) and 55 temples

  • After breakfast, take an hour’s flight to Nepalganj, where you will be picked up and driven the 3h to Bardiya National Park. Enjoy the scenery along the national highway that takes you through small villages, dense forests, open farmland, and over crocodile-infested rivers. Reach your sanctuary of comfort amidst the jungle, and relax until your campfire dinner with a traditional performance by the Tharu people.

  • Begin your day with a river safari along the Karnali river. As you cruise down the river, keep your eyes peeled for a variety of birdlife and wildlife, including the endangered fish-eating Gharial crocodile, and the elusive Gangas pink dolphin. Return to your lodge to relax and spend the afternoon at your leisure.

Add-on: Choose to have an afternoon or nighttime jeep safari. In the afternoon (or dusk), when the weather is cooler and the animals become more active, venture out for a jeep safari in the national park. Explore the jungle in the comfort and convenience of a jeep accompanied by park rangers.

  • Begin the day with an adventurous walking safari. Walking along a jungle path enclosed by trees, as you listen out for the jungle sounds. We take you to well-known hide-aways, where you will be more likely to spot wildlife as you crouch in the bushes.

Add-on: Spend the afternoon learning about the ethnic tribe of Tharu. Living isolated and undisturbed for centuries, the Tharu have developed their own language, and unique culture. Their small agricultural villages are constructed out of mud-walled houses, often with artistic line drawings. Explore villages in the vicinity, famous for hosting Prince Harry in 2016, to learn their unique way of life. Learn about local community conservation programs that help educate the Tharu’s to live in harmony with the roaming wildlife through ecotourism initiatives.

  • After breakfast, take the two-hour drive to Nepalgunj airport in good time for your scheduled flight back to Kathmandu. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will meet you at the airport and take you to your designated hotel. Spend the remaining afternoon at your leisure.

  • We will drop you off at the airport for your continued adventures.
